Summary
"…Are you interested in anyone, Kas'e?" His voice was quiet and stable, but even past my hearing issues I could recognise his tone. The tone where he was hiding his emotions. At that moment, I knew. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest and I gulped quietly, before starting to nod slowly.
"For a very long time... They... are a very strong warrior... they are... caring, even if they don't show it often... They…lose terribly in every ikran race... " This earns a quiet chuckle from So'lek, who watches me. He's hanging onto every word, and I can see recognition in his eyes. "And... he has helped me in every step of my life, from the first time I opened my eyes in that pod... "
-------------------------------------------
Set two years after From the Ashes, the Sarentu have agreed that Kas'e will be their Olo'eyktan. With the ceremonies over, it's very late. Kas'e is sitting at the edge of So'lek's camp, watching Pandora fall asleep. With a few moments away from So'lek as he cooks dinner, Kas'e's mind starts to wander. Will he manage to reign it in, or fall into his thoughts?
