Eddie stops at the mirror near his front door and straightens his tie. He had carefully combed his hair, but couldn’t do much for the dark circles under his eyes. Five weeks. He can deal with this for the next five weeks.
He grabs his keys and the list of carefully written directions he had plotted out the night before. A diagrammed route from his car park to the hotel Richie Tozier is staying in, to the film set in Long Island. -

Summary
Eddie has a surprising amount of muscle definition going on in the forearm region. Jamie has witnessed, on four separate occasions, someone do a double take at Eddie’s forearm. Karen from HR still bears the nickname ‘Mugbreaker’ after Eddie turned the corner near her office, coming face to face with her just as he rubbed a hand through the hair at the nape of his neck, exposing the wiry flex of muscle between wrist and elbow, and Karen famously dropped a cup of coffee all over the floor. Ergo, either Eddie goes to the gym, or he’s on steroids.
Eddie is the kind of man who keeps a makeshift itemised medicine cabinet in his third desk drawer, with a padlock on the handle, the key for which he keeps in the inside pocket of his suit jacket, and who administers a library style check-out system of medication whenever anyone asks for a Paracetamol.
Eddie is probably not on steroids.
Eddie's coworker finally convinces him to bring his elusive spouse to an office party. It goes about as well as you might expect, which is to say spectacularly.

Summary
Eddie grabs a bottle of Elmer’s and starts tracing each letter with glue. There’s a dopey, sort of proud feeling in Richie, watching him carefully craft the letters of his name. More than when he spells out Because (which really sucked for Eddie) or Bastard (a recently learned swear.) He feels all warm and fuzzy because it’s him that Eddie chose to make his spare valentine for, since he didn’t have a dad and a mom. He could of picked Bill or Stanley, gnashing away on the other side of the table with their pinking shears, or the teacher- but he picked Richie.

Stan’s not really sure what to expect. After working everything out with Patty, having her catch him and cry with him and then send him to Derry with the promise that he’d come back alive, he’s pretty sure nothing can stop him. He’s still nervous, though, especially since he’s the first one there, nervously hovering near the hostess stand, trying to work up the nerve to ask if his friends (friends? former friends? childhood pals? the only people who truly understand him, outside Patty? all of the above?) are hidden somewhere inside or not.
Eventually, he bites the bullet and goes up. “Hey, um… Is there a reservation for seven here? Under… um, probably Mike? Hanlon?”
