Summary
After Buck gets hurt on a call, Eddie starts noticing a pattern he can’t ignore. The way Buck throws himself into danger, the way he seems almost indifferent to whether he makes it home.
When Eddie confronts him, Buck refuses to admit there’s anything wrong. But Eddie knows him too well to let it go.
It takes time, difficult conversations, and one long-overdue heart-to-heart before Buck finally breaks down and lets Eddie see just how much he’s been struggling. Because sometimes, the hardest part isn’t admitting you need help, it’s believing someone will stay when you finally ask for it.

Summary
If Eddie could go back to that morning he would do things differently. It’s a terrible way of thinking, he’s heard it on numerous occasions. That he can’t blame himself for what happened, it wasn’t his fault. That this was just one of the many possibilities that could happen while they were on the job. They were firefighters, it was an occupational hazard. The 118 walked through fire almost every day, they stared down the worst of the worst and most of the time they walked out of the other side relatively unscathed. Eddie is no stranger to near death experiences, none of them really are. They’re no stranger to loss, especially not after they had almost lost Bobby, the 118 is no stranger to the blinding white hallways of the hospital. Sitting and waiting for news.
It was supposed to be a routine call, an apartment block fire. And now they’re back here again.
OR: Buck has a serious injury on a call, following another near death experience Eddie reflects and comes to a realisation.

He never finished. The moment Buck’s knuckles hit the door, there was a brilliant flash of light and he was thrown backward off the porch. For a fraction of a second, the world stood still. Nothing but a few wisps of smoke and the burning stench seemed to move around them. The moment shattered as panic and urgency took over.
