    Summary

There, in the early morning sun, stands Scar—still shirtless, his back to Grian. His wings have dried out during the night, and Grian was right, those feathers need preening—but they're still stunning. Scar’s wings are massive, his wingspan stretching out what looks like almost twice his length.

At first Grian thinks they're yellow, like a canary. There's a joke at the tip of his tongue. Then he steps closer and they shimmer golden underneath the light. Grian stares at them, fascinated.

“Damn,” he breathes out, and Scar startles and spins around. His wings get in the way and he stumbles, almost falling to the ground if it wasn’t for Grian holding him up.

“Oops,” Scar laughs sheepishly. “Hi, Grian.”

“Hi, Scar,” Grian smiles, exasperated but fond. “How are you feeling?”

“Better,” Scar says, and his wings slowly flex. “I, uh. Might have wrecked our home a bit. Thrown some furniture around. Accidentally. These are so unwieldy, I don’t know how you don’t walk around constantly knocking things over.”

“You mostly get used to it,” Grian says, amused.

    Summary

It shouldn’t have affected Scar as much as it did when he first saw Grian’s new outfit.

A sudden heat wave had swept over the vicinity of Magic Mountain, leaving all its occupants sticky and hot and miserable. Everyone, in unspoken synchronicity, made the decision to remove a good chunk of fabric from their wardrobes, changing into short-sleeved shirts and short pants in order to not die of heatstroke. The novelty for everyone else's outfits wore off soon enough and hadn’t warranted anything more than a teasing comment from Scar.

The novelty, in Grian’s case, did not wear off soon enough.

When Scar first spotted Grian’s summer outfit during a short, relaxed flight back from Skizz’s base, he nearly flew into a tree with the force of his double take. His first thought, while struggling to both land without dying and keep Grian in his line of sight, was: oh my god, legs. His second thought, directly on the heels of the first, was: I am never going to live this down.

    Summary

The moment between sleeping and waking was a drawn-out tenuous thing, a warm darkness with an absence of true consciousness. Scar floated in that darkness, more sensation than solid form, with only the faintest awareness of her physical body. She was still asleep, and knew she was still asleep, but wasn't able to move or bring herself back to complete wakefulness.

Very faintly, Scar became aware of a familiar heat unfurling through her body, hot and syrupy. Oh, Scar thought distantly, it was going to be that kind of a night. She let herself press closer into that feeling, sinking into it as pleasure sparked dully throughout her body.

But she couldn't stay in that state of partial sleep forever; she had to wake up eventually.

Lucidity came back to her as a blurred picture, leaving her to bring it slowly into focus. Her room was still nighttime-dark, and she was so, so warm. There was a solid heat at her back, arms wrapped loosely around her torso, a wing draped overtop her like another blanket. There was a mouth at her neck, a hand splayed just beneath her rib cage.

Scar drew in a sharp breath, tensing involuntarily in Grian's arms—it had to have been Grian behind her, who else could it be?
