I vividly remember seeing the tags to this one and not being sure what to expect. It's one of those fics that captures a feeling so insanely well that it's no wonder it was born from an obsession. It's one of those works that you feel you only understand half of, and in the end, are left speechless.

Summary
Kel knew he ought to be more grateful, because if there was anything spending so much time in Senema Hospital’s Oncology Ward had taught him, it was that there were too many people out there who’d do anything for just one more birthday. But he was in so much pain—up his left side, his chest and upper back, his neck. The only time he was pain-free was when he was deep in the mire of his subconscious, where he could be twelve years old again, cancer such a foreign concept that he didn’t even really know what it was.
(Kel is sick, and no one knows how to deal with it.)

A fic that tackles the emotional repercussions of a dying Kel. If you're not a fan of Kel/Sunny, still give it a try for what it does with the relationships and heartbreak of losing a dear friend, brother, and son to a force no one could possibly prevent. A beautiful work if I've ever read one.
