“Maybe.” Jinx grins like she knows a secret, dipping below the bar to grab one of the reserved bottles of aged bourbon below she saves just for him. “And maybe you prefer when I’m breaking the glasses over my customers' heads, versus toying with those heads for tips.”

“If you were here,” He muses, static crackling over the line as his voice creeps deeper, holding the phone closer to his lips, “I’d make it better.”
