Summary
It started innocently. There were always thoughts swimming in Saitama’s mind; some were lazy little fishes that would block out reality, and sink him deep inside a fantasy. Others were aggressive. They would charge Saitama and knock him off balance, and the stronger ones would hold him hostage in bed. They would harangue him of the past, their whispers like ice and fire in his blood. A long time ago, he had learned to let them out by talking; as if by opening his mouth and giving them words, giving them life, they would swim out into the air and away. For the mean ones it didn’t work. Sometimes, they only grew more aggressive. For the little ones though, the innocent and curious, they were better off in the sea of the world than the small puddle of his mind.
“Genos… I love you. And I never want to see you hurt that badly, ever again.” Fragile and small, but glowing yellow like Genos’ biolights, the fish floated above them, traveling the currents and looping around and around. Words once spoken, given life, could never be returned. This little one was tenacious. Saitama was certain it would survive.
