He doesn’t see anything, at first, beyond his wavering reflection. The half moon casts a soft, white light over the surface, a break from the darkness. The night wind sends ripples across the calm waters. He looks left, then right. Nothing.
Then, he glances down below, really looks, and he yelps.
“Philza?!”

Summary
He continues to hum wordlessly into the night, letting himself feel all the pain he fights to keep down in front of the others. He knows he has to let it out sometime or it will swallow him whole, and gods it was getting close to eating him alive.
But soon his notes turn wobbly.
And they break into pieces as he chokes on his grief.
And his shoulders shake as he crumples in on himself.
He buries his face in his hands and just cries.
“…Philza?” He hears softly behind him. His breath catches in his throat and he stops breathing. He lifts his face from his hands slowly, but does not turn.
Instinctively he reaches for his mask, chest tight as he holds back sobs, and hides his soul once more.
OR
When everyone returns to the island after purgatory, Philza finds he's lost more than just his children- he's lost his voice. He dons the mask he wore throughout purgatory as a small comfort, and takes on the persona of "Eggza".
Can be read as platonic or romantic, but I did write it to be platonic.
(There is some Spanish text, but it's not necessary to understand what's going on)

Reflected in the mirror is a boy who must be around her age. Average height, athlete's build, and now that Mafuyu's looking more closely, the blonde she noticed before edges orange-pink towards the ends. She blinks, and flat amber blinks back at her.
There's writing hand-stitched into the chest pocket of her— his shirt. She traces it, mouths the reversed kanji she can read through the mirror.
