After the deaths of Elia and her children, Ned goes home to the North bitter and angry, bringing with him the deed to the New Gift, reparations in the form of gold dragons, the bones of his dead sister, his "bastard" nephew, and his decreed future wife, the Princess Daenerys, not even a moon turn old.
Ned goes home stewing in anger, livid with the loss of life, the lies spread by a nation, and with the man he had once called a brother. No longer. He decides enough is enough, and plans to make the North a force to be reckoned with in every sense of the term.
