The drawing Gerard held out would have impressed her if it was done by one of her peers. All in pencil, it was a nearly perfect copy of her picture, with a signature on the bottom that looked to be a beginner’s attempt at cursive. Gerard Keay, written in messy loops, 10. She wouldn’t have guessed the scrawny boy was even 8 yet. “I’ll have to get a frame so I can put it on my desk.” She said, already knowing the drawing would come home with her and never return to this awful place.
