Legolas has loved Gimli since the War of the Ring, but confesses not until after he is stone once more in his great tomb.
But Gimli bade him live, not languish in grief or fade. So he lives.
Now he journeys to Valmar, the dwelling place of the Valar, to gain entrance into Mahal's halls, to confess to Gimli his love and to be with him until the last war and beyond.
