The room is hollowed out without the bed, without Jayce, a peek into an alternate timeline where Jayce became lost to him, and it's a knife to the gut when he's already bleeding. He gasps as if he's been struck, and then he's muffling little whimpering cries into his hands, relief and terror and grief all mixing into something sharp and painful in his stomach.
He should call Ximena, he thinks, desperately searching for something logical to do, something to focus on. He should email Heimerdinger, explain why he'd left so suddenly, text Sky a thank you for the ride.

i'm starting to get the appeal lolViktor wished, desperately, that he had a script for this encounter.
Bullet points, at the very least, for how to respond when one's colleague brings up a risqué comment that visibly scandalized them. One that scraped a wee bit too close to Viktor's own sexual tastes, because Jayce Talis wandered a little too close to the concept of submission and Viktor's dick leapfrogged his brain.
This could be Jayce's attempt at making it less awkward, massaging his initial reaction into a new inside joke. Which means that if Viktor breaks kayfabe, it's just going to make things weirder. He can play ball.
Oh? And what appeal is that?
Eighteen months into spearheading Piltover Dynamics' Hextech project together, Jayce and Viktor are on the precipice of becoming tech industry darlings. For the first time in his life, Viktor has the promise of a meaningful career, the ability to pay his medical bills, and a colleague he enjoys spending time with. When Viktor blinks himself awake one morning with a distinct sense of wrongness he attributes it first to the immediate awareness that he is in Jayce's bedroom. In Jayce's bed. He knows exactly the contents of his desk and how the paintings are hung on his walls. And he knows for certain the rich scent of Jayce filling his lungs.
It takes him an additional minute after waking to realise where the sense of wrongness actually comes from.
When he stumbles to the mirror, it feels like he might be looking through it. Into the living room. Into some other part of the apartment. Because his mind simply cannot process what he's seeing otherwise.
The face staring back at him isn't his own. It's Jayce's.
