    Months after the coronation, Zoya is still navigating the restless waters of being a ruler, with the support and the fairly unnerving - extremely romantic - courting of her advisor Nikolai. The new dynasty brings both peace and turmoil; they struggle to maintain their country’s fragile balance, while learning what it means to be together. They’re adjusting to their roles, not yet being married - nor engaged. As they face the insecurities that come with having your dreams fulfilled, trouble ensues in Os Kervo, where a plot against the crown seems to unravel. A wedge is at risk to be driven through Ravka again: they set out for a mission, along with the help of some of their friends and Nikolai’s newfound sister, Linnea.
