Summary
As Kokichi stepped away, his gloved fingertips rolled over the back of Shuichi’s neck, teasing the only part of his skin exposed to the air. It made Shuichi shiver, his thighs clenching for a reason he couldn’t explain. “Perhaps my jest went too far this time. Then again, I’ll be stealing much more than a lover from you soon!”
While his father and mother laughed at Kokichi’s words, they made Shuichi’s breath catch in his throat. Was that what Kokichi was here for? The riches locked away in their treasury? Shuichi had seen Kokichi around those halls plenty of times before, always chatting up the guards. Shuichi had never realized that was what Kokichi was after, but now that he knew it, the pieces quickly fell into place.
Without that gold, Shuichi could not become king. No matter what, he would foil Kokichi’s plot. As soon as a plan occurred to him, Shuichi waved over the waiter for another refill of his glass, knowing that he’d rather not be sober for what he was going to have to do next.
