“Lancelot,” Gawain says sleepily, trying to keep his eyes from closing, knowing he’ll definitely fall asleep like this, “We have a meeting with that princeling. The one with the funny hair.”
The echidna blinks rapidly, clumsily trying to wave Lancelot’s hand away, “We cannot stay long. Do not let me sleep-“
“That is exactly the reason I have brought you here, my king,” the hedgehog doesn’t stop petting his hair, and Gawain’s eyes flutter shut when Lancelot begins to groom his muzzle. He feels those rough hands gently rub at the bags under his eyes, trace the wrinkles deepened by cares and joy and sorrows and laughter over the years.
“Mmm,” Gawain hums as he decides this cause is lost. Damn Lancelot’s incredibly comfortable lap. He turns his face so his snout is pressed against Lancelot’s stomach, doing his best to wrap his arm around the hedgehog’s waist.
