On a side street in the Lower East Side, Infernal Iron Tattoo and Waterdeep Floristry face each other. There’s also a deli. It’s not very good.
Tav has scrapped her way through her twenties to finally have a life she can be proud of: she co-owns her own tattoo studio with her best friend, she wears what she wants and does what she wants, and she even has enough money to get good coffee most of the time.
Is she happy? Yes.
Does the very existence she’s worked so hard to earn make her completely incompatible with the beautiful, buttoned-up florist across the street? Also yes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t make her want him any less.

“What in the Nine?” Zar breathed. Gale came behind him and circled his waist with his arms, kissing the back of his neck.
“It’s a simulacrum,” He answered, “A perfect illusory duplicate of me, who moves and acts according to my wishes. It can do everything I can do, and it doesn’t disappear until I dismiss it or until something destroys it, so we don’t have to worry about our fun being cut short.” He nuzzled at Zar’s neck, fingers rubbing little circles on his hipbones over his clothes.
Zar touched the simulacrum again. It felt slightly cooler to the touch than Gale. The simulacrum took Zar’s hand and brought it to his lips, placing an open-mouthed kiss against his palm with a cheeky wink.
“Sune’s tits, Gale. Are you suggesting what I think you are?” He asked, incredulously.

A retelling.
“How … likely is it we can chalk this up to a naughty dream?”
Dropping her hands to her lap, she squints at him. “Well, now that you’ve said it—not very likely.”
He’s still half on her bedroll where’s she’d left him, propped up on one arm, other hand massaging at his throat. It takes her a while to process the wariness in his eyes—a length of time where her silent observation of him only seems to heighten his unease.
Just to be thorough, she briefly touches her fingers to either side of her throat. When she feels only smooth skin, she sighs again, shaking her head.
“… What are you going to do?” Astarion asks in a low and quiet voice, evidently having followed her—soundlessly in the way she knows he can be when he wants to. “What are you … What are you going to tell them?”
