“Uh…” Celina says, raising one eyebrow.
Angela continues on, ignoring her.
“But here’s the thing. You have to live with one of them, so I know you must be about to go out of your goddamn mind.”
Celina winces.
“It’s not that bad…” she tries, but Angela shakes her head, making an “uh uh” noise as she takes a long sip of beer.
“Yes it is, don’t fucking lie.”
Celina pauses, considering, and then deflates, nearly dropping her head to the table as she gives up pretending she isn’t about to lose her ever-loving mind. “Oh my god, it is that bad. It’s so much worse than you know.”

Lucy stares at Tim for a long moment, her chest expanding into his with each breath she takes, and Tim thinks that he could be happy with just this. Just kisses and closeness and being with her, but then she leans in and kisses him again while one hand runs down his back and under his t-shirt, and he realizes that he’s wrong.
He will never be able to be happy with such a small part of her.

Standing at a height of only 5’4”, Lucy Chen has always looked up at the world. She walks straight-backed, vertebrae stacked as high as she can manage, but that only gets her so tall. It doesn’t help her at concerts where there is inevitably some 6’ plus dude-bro with an extremely wide back standing directly in front of her, and it certainly doesn’t help her reach the top shelf at the supermarket.
But being a lifelong shorty, Lucy has adapted. She long ago figured out that there was rarely a tall person or a step ladder around when you needed one, so Lucy compensates by being a climber.
