Noel had not seen Kayne since the order of the fallen star. He had found Oscar. He had been tossed aside in favour of Kayne’s shiny new toys (good luck to them) and he was doing better for it. Or so he told himself.
Oscar convinces Noel to go to confession to replace some of his not so fun childhood memories with better ones.

“Whalefall.” The deity without conscious thought mused, “This must be how it feels to be the whale. Those hulking beasts that gracefully lounge about the Earths waters for a few years until they die and with their death sustain the multitude lives of other creatures who in turn will die and sustain others. Until all the hearts of all who feast sing the song of the whale worshiping its blessed corpse.”
