It wasn’t that he thought Stan would reciprocate. In fact, nearly as shameful as the initial jealous twinges was the fiercely smug pride that squeezed at his heart every time Stan stepped away from them. Every time he rejected or ignored the advances, the looks, all of it to return to Ford’s side. It wasn’t simply reassurance of his place in Stan’s life, it was an almost cruel glee that he had what they could not.
He’d never shared these feelings with Stan and he didn’t plan to. What right did he have to feel that way? To want so fiercely to be the only one he even looked at? To need those around them to know that Stan was his?
It was possessive and controlling and it made him sick to think about and yet…
