Summary
“A dinosaur?” He asks, more curious than anything, as he lifts the surprisingly hefty little guy out of his box. He’s green, with little horns- triceratops, his brain supplies from an unknown place.
“Yeah, like you.” Sam jokes. “No, seriously though, read the note.”
Didn’t want to say it out loud in front of everyone, but they help with anxiety. I’ve got one too. If you hate it, I can get you something else.
“Thank you,” Bucky says genuinely, and no he’s not petting the dinosaur, you are.

When Sam has no idea what to get Bucky for Secret Santa, he decides on something practical and helpful- a weighted dinosaur for Bucky's anxiety. Fluff ensues.In other words, the author has recently gotten a weighted dragon and is making it everyone else's problem. Teen rating is just for swearing, this is very wholesome. I own nothing (except the weighted dragon)

Steve was relaxing in a soft blue armchair by the window, sipping some tea with copious amounts of honey as he watched the sun set. It was how he preferred to spend his evenings, especially after stressful days, and with a tower full of traumatized superheroes (of whom he was somehow the most sane- him, the one who tried to go to war with about a million chronic illnesses? Him, the one who’s sixty years ahead of his time? Him? -he was often helping someone, somewhere, feel a little more safe.
And he didn’t mind. Of course he didn’t! These people were family to him. But sometimes it was nice to just sit and watch something that hadn’t changed, that would always be beautiful, while drinking the one brand of tea that hadn’t gone out of business while he was in the ice.

In which Steve, the man sixty years ahead of his time, is somehow the most sane in the tower, the one who helps everyone else to cope. When his team- his family -is struggling with their past, he's there, with whatever they need. Of course he is. He loves them. But who's there for him when he needs help? (Everyone. They love him too.)

Sam had always wanted to fly. Something about soaring above everything, free with the wind and the sun and the sky, had always appealed to him. Putting on those wings was everything Sam had ever dreamed of. Flight, real flight, not blocked by a helicopter or jet or anything. Plus Riley- not just his bunkmate, not just his partner, but his best friend. His wingman.

But then another missile whistled towards them, and Riley must not have seen it, this time.
Sam dodged.
Riley didn’t.
Riley fell.
...
Rhodes fell.
...
Joaquín fell.
...
Sam was too late.***
In other words, a look at Sam's relationship with flight and the people who flew beside him.(Basically I realized there's a lot of parallels between Riley and Joaquín and then realized he saw Rhodes get shot down too and went 'hmmm he's witnessed a lot of people die/get critically injured with no way to save them despite his best efforts... wouldn't it be a shame if someone were to... write about that')

(inspired by the many tiktok comments under heartbreaking mlm ship edits going "do they know it's legal now?" I'm here to propose that no, Bucky does not know it's legal now. nobody really talks about the legalization of gay marriage anymore when you really think of it. it doesn't change too much but it's kind of funny that he just...doesn't know).
A short-ish getting together fic where Sam convinces Bucky to go on a mini roadtrip through Texas, through which he finally finds out that gay marriage is legal.
