Jon has been stabbed through the heart and is dead. Thorne has been subdued by Ghost and the other mutineers are locked in the ice cells. All of the wolves are howling and everyone is on alert, even at the Midnight Fortress. At Castle Black, Melisandre is asked to try bringing Jon back.
Jon and Daenerys' supporters debate the use of blood magic to attempt Jon's resurrection but Daenerys convinces them to proceed. Lyanna Stark appears to Daenerys in a dream telling her she will help Jon to return. Daenerys sentences Alliser Thorne to death and Ned beheads him. In Kings Landing, Baelish is helping Tywin Lannister to adulterate King Robert's wine and keep him sedated, as well as searching for other ways to obstruct Ned Stark's agenda. Ser Barristan asks Varys to help keep the tainted wine away from the king.
Daenerys tells Ned about her vision of Lyanna. She also confesses to Ned that she was happy seeing Thorne executed but worries that she might be showing signs of her father's madness. Benjen and Addam share their thoughts on the loneliness of being a soldier. Arya is confined after having tried to go to Castle Black. Melisandre performs the procedure to bring Jon back, burning Dany's blood, Jon's blood, and ice from the Wall. Early the next morning when the fire has nearly gone out, Jon gasps and wakes, startling everyone. Back at the Midnight Fortress, daughter Lyanna tells Ayla that the wolf Nymeria is now happy and no longer mourning.
Gilly is afraid of being persecuted for being Craster's daughter. Tyrion has turned Cersei's spies and is giving them misinformation. Addam and Ned argue over whether to tell Jon about his true pedigree.
Varys plans to remove King Robert once Ned Stark returns to Kings Landing. Illyrio Mopatis heads for the Blessed Isle and Daenerys. Maester Aemon interrogates Addam and figures out that Jon is one head of the Dragon, and Daenerys may be the second, but doesn't know the third. Sam and Gilly head back to the Blessed Isle bringing books from Maester Aemon.
Arianne discusses her marriage plans with Oberyn. She wishes to have a child who can be betrothed to a Starling heir. Ned negotiates with Mance for the terms of the free folk settling south of the Wall. Ella and Ayla decide to meet their spouses in Winterfell. Arya sets out for the capital.
Ella talks to Ned about Harrenhall, and Rhaegar's plot to gather support to overthrow Aerys. Apparently Rhaegar also discovered Robert's plot of a rebellion against the Targaryens. Ned plans to for the crown to be passed to Jon when Joffrey's illegitimacy is exposed. Maester Luwin overhears them. Ayla learns exactly what happened to Jon at Castle Black.
Ned and Ella learn that the Citadel maesters have been plotting against the Targaryens and their sympathizers, seek destruction of any magic, fomented the rebellion. They poisoned Ned and Ella's first child who died shortly after birth. Ned is irate and distraught. Ella tells Robb about his sister who died, implying that she is not Jon's mother. Benjen tells Ned that he will help him exact vengeance.
Maester Corlys of Starfall is accused of killing Ashara's child and sentenced to death. He runs away and jumps to his death from the Palestone Sword. There is another attempt to poison the three babies at Winterfell but the culprits escaped. Ella tells Ned that she's pregnant.

Olenna learns about the reality of White Walkers and wights from Margaery. Archmaester Marwyn at the Citadel receives a raven from Maester Luwin at Winterfell and starts to quietly investigate. Jon and Ned head back to the Midnight Fortress and then Ned and Ella go on to Kings Landing.
Ned continues to investigate the assassination attempt on Cregamn and Little Addam, and has a serious talk with Robert about his deportment.
A spice merchant in Kings Landing is put on trial for the attempted murder of Ned's son. The merchant has been framed by Littlefinger who has also bought witnesses against him. Sansa, Arya, and Rickon visit Catelyn.
Varys knows that it must be Littlefinger behind the assassination attempts but doesn't know why right now. Varys knows about the frame on the spice merchant but decides not to intervene. He also knows Jon's true pedigree. Robb gives Margaery a horse for pre-wedding gift and Margaery leaves Highgarden for her Kings Landing wedding. Sam announces his engagement to Gilly on his nameday. Archmaester Marwyn arrives and discusses with Ned the opposition of the Maesters to magic and the White Walker threat. He also gives Ned a journal by a former High Septon.

    Summary

What if the three White Knights, guarding the Tower of Joy knew of Ned Stark's search for his sister. What if they were able to meet him in secret and concoct a plan to keep the new-born King safe until he could reclaim his rightful throne.
Jon (Aegon Targaryen) grows up, helped by a small group that secretly prepares Westeros for the restoration of the Targaryen dynasty. As he comes of age, Jon gradually takes charge of his own destiny.

This is a Jon-centric story where he claims his birthright and has dragons. Daenerys' life is vastly different compared to canon. She will meet Jon without having conquered Essos and has a long way to go before becoming a dragonrider in her own right. Endgame, however, will be a happy Jonerys riding dragons together and ruling as equals.

The Conspiracy of Ice and Fire

    Ch 44, 606549 | Ch 45, 629845
    Ch 47, 652985 | Ch 50, 702874
    Ch 51, 717856

Ch 01: Receiving an urgent plea from his sister Lyanna, Ned travels to Dorne with some of his bannermen. At a small inn, they meet a stranger ( identified only as White) who knows Lyanna's fate and where she is.
Ch 02: Ned arrives at Winterfell with his new wife Catelyn and his firstborn son and heir Robb. As Catelyn settles into her new home, Ned meets with Maester Luwin on sensitive matters. Ned resolves to get to know his new wife better and comes to her bed with love and passion. Ned meets with Benjen who informs him of the arrangements for Jon at Driftmark where Howland Reed arranged for him to live as an adopted grandson of Lord and Lady Velaryon. Three of the Kingsguard will live at Driftmark to protect Jon. Prince Doran receives a crate delivered by a northern vessel (Manderly) from Kings Landing containing a chained Gregor Clegane and an anonymous message sent from the Wall. Doran directs Oberyn to make discreet inquiries to find out who their secret allies are and any weaknesses in the current regime.
Ch 03: Benjen travels to Greywater Watch under the pretense of collecting taxes and recruits for the Nights Watch. He travels as liaison between the Warden of the North and the Nights Watch but has not actually taken the vows as a black brother. At Greywater, Benjen finds a well-adjusted and exuberant five year old Jon and two of his guards. Jon is being fostered after the death of his grandparent on Driftmark. Lord Reed believes Jon is very safe there and can more easily develop any magical powers such as warging. Sandor Clegane is approached by Benjen Stark, Greatjon Umber, and Oswell Whent, and successfully recruited to kidnap his brother Gregor from Kings Landing.
Ch 04: A year before Benjen's visit to Greywater Watch, Sansa is born at Winterfell. In the late stages of pregnancy, Catelyn argues for Robb being brought up to worship the Seven but Ned demands that Robb worship the Old Gods. Ned is worried about what to do with Jon now that Lord Velaryon is gravely ill. (Catelyn is now aware of Jon's identity). Ned directs Maester Luwin to send ravens to the other houses of the North, the other Wardens, and the capital, announcing the birth of his daughter. He also asks that a meeting be arranged with some of the northern lords at the home of Lord Forrester. Ser Arthur Dayne is sent to Summerhall by Lord Reed whose greenseer abilities have shown him a hidden cache of dragon eggs. Ser Arthur finds three eggs.
Ch 05: Several years later, Ned, Wyman Manderly, Howland, and two of the Kingsguard meet at Greywater Watch. They discuss progress of rebuilding the defenses at Moat Cailin as well as those of the coasts of the Crown should try to attack them. They are also building glass gardens at most of the northern castles to help with food supplies should they be cut off from the Reach. Ned also informs them that he may soon have to tell the other northern lords about Jon to alleviate any hurt feelings at having the secret kept from them. They discuss the wildling situation as there have been several raids south of the wall. Lord Manderly updates them on the project of building a navy and recruiting seaman. Ned suggests expanding their group by bringing Davos Seaworth, Sandor Clegane, and Ser Barristan Selmy into their confidence. They were unable to decide whether Varys should be recruited and postponed a decision. Ned's suggestion of telling Oberyn Martell meets with some resistance so they postpone that decision also. They evaluate and are pleased with Jon's education and weapons training at this point (he is 10yo). They discuss whether Daenerys and Viserys are being supplied with sufficient funds for living safely in the Free Cities. In a smaller group, Ned, Benjen and Howland decide to let Robb foster at Greywater Watch with Jon so they can meet each other. They also plan to tell Jon about his true identity next year and take him to the Wall to evaluate the dragon eggs with Maester Aemon. Varys is irritated by King Robert's weak and ineffective small council. He is also puzzled by several mysteries: the unknown ends of three of the Targaryen Kingsguards, the apprehension of Gregor Clegane by the Dornish, and the disappearance of Lord Tywin Lannister. Varys is puzzled by all these mysteries and more but suspects that the North may have been involved in all of them.
Ch 06: Robb arrives at Greywater Watch and bonds with Jon. Jon is envious of Robbs family and home. Jon and Robb have different sword fighting techniques but are well matched in age and experience. However Jon had better teachers and he defeats Robb who isn't used to losing. Robb tells Jon that he overheard plans for them going together to Winterfell. Jon tells Robb about his dog Max that he is "bonded" with.

    Ch 43, 535797

In Pentos the remaining Northern, Targaryen, and Free Folk are fighting w
ith Jon against the Others. His siblings, Daenerys, his son Rhaegar, are dead. Bran and Melisandre find a way to send him into the past to the day that the direwolf pups are found.
Jon confronts Ned with the truth of his real parents. Ned gives him two valyrian steel swords that had been hidden in his mother's crypt. Jon leaves for Pentos five days later with Robb. Ned gives Jon a grey dragons egg before he leaves and he and Robb take their direwolves.
Robb and Jon encounter Sam Tarly in White Harbor. Jon arranges for Sam to train as a Maester at the Citadel and Sam tells him how to hatch his dragon egg.
When King Robert and his court arrive in Winterfell, Ned declines both the offer as Hand and the betrothal of Sansa. In Pentos, Jon and Robb find Jorah Mormont working on the docks who tells them where to find Khal Drogo and his khalasar. Jon fights Khal Drogo and his bloodriders, killing them all. He burns all their bodies and hatches the dragon egg in the flames. Jon now has a khalasar and a dragon named Sarogon.
Jon, Robb, and his bloodriders return to the ship and he persuades Jorah to support him and become his personal guard. Jon meets Daenerys and puts Viserys under guard.
Cersei tries to get the servant Willis to spy on Ned for her but he tells Ned instead. Ned arranges for Willis to go with Howland Reed to Greywater Watch so he will be safe. Bran also goes with the Reeds. A red and blue meteor is seen in the skies of Westeros signifying the return of dragons and ancient magic. Jon and Daenerys are married in Pentos at the manse of Illyrio Mopatis. Illyrio gives them three dragon eggs as wedding gifts.
Joffrey attacks Sansa in the training yard but is repelled by Arya and Nymeria. Tyrion witnesses the attack and confirms it to the King. The northern lords are outraged and demand Joffrey be sent to the Wall or executed but settle for the independence of the North. Ned appoints Tyrion as his new Hand.
Jon begins sword training for Daenerys and gives her Dark Sister. Jon arranges for Gendry Waters and Syrio Forel to come to Winterfell from Kings Landing. Gendry will be reforging the greatsword Ice into two longswords for Ned and Benjen, while Syrio will be giving Catelyn and her children lessons in Braavosi Water Dancing.

Jon is exhibiting some unusual physical symptoms, in particular changes in eye color to orange or dark blue, depending on his mood

Illyrio meets with Varys in the basement of the Red Keep and tells him that Aegon (Jon) wants his help. Varys agrees to travel to Pentos. Varys gives Illyrio the two dragon eggs he has hidden since Rhaegar's children were killed. The small council meets and decides that it should prepare for war but must wait for King Robert to return. Gendry and Mikken finish the Valyrian steel swords they are making for Ned and Benjen. They are then directed to make Braavosi-style swords for the queen, her children, and Tyrion. Ned receives many offers of betrothal for his sons and daughters once his kingdom becomes known. Aegon-Jon is having nightmares which frighten Daenerys. Cersei sends an assassin to kill Sansa and Arya. Jaime warns Cersei to not try killing King Robert.
Jon finally tells Daenerys how he was forced to kill her and their son after they were turned to wights in his prior life. Ned charges Theon with the protection of his family before leaving for the Wall. Theon is humbled and proud to do so. Before Ned leaves for the Wall, Catelyn receives a raven announcing the arrival of her brother Edmure from Riverrun. Edmure wants to find out the truth behind the North's independence. Ned gives Catelyn permission to tell him about Jon's parents and mission but cautions her to do it privately. When the Tyrells receive news that their daughter Margaery will be betrothed to Robb Stark, they are very happy and start making preparations right away for their trip to Winterfell. The Martells also receive the message from Ned that accepts Sansa's proposed betrothal to Trystane. Daenerys and Jon make passionate love after their sword training. Petyr Baelish looks for ways to plant his spies in the North and Pentos.
Theon disrupts Cersei's assassins in Winterfell and then is sent north by Catelyn with a message for Ned. Ned, Benjen, and Tyrion continue their trip to the Wall. Illyrio and Varys bring two dragon eggs to Jon and Daenerys. Surrounded by the khalasar, Viserys and the five dragon eggs are burned on a pyre and Daenerys experiences a vision (and confirms she is pregnant) after she steps into the flames. Daenerys emerges from the fire unburnt with five baby dragons.

    Summary

For years Sansa has ruled the North, wisely, justly, capably--and utterly alone. Everyone tells her she needs an heir; all she wants is a family. But after everything she’s suffered, there’s only one man she trusts won’t use her for her claim. Only one she trusts with her body. Unfortunately, she trusts him in no other way--especially not with her heart.

For years Jon’s hidden in the far north, choosing solitude over the people he loves, choosing self-exile as punishment rather than atoning. But then Tormund tires of his moping and drags Jon back to Winterfell where guilt and consequences and a tempting offer await him.

A story in which Jon and Sansa reunite after five years and enter an arrangement despite having unresolved issues between them. Post canon. (Not an arranged marriage fic.)
