Marta’s eyes flicked down at the hand and then to the clipboard. “Is that the inventory?”“Yes.” Fina stared at Marta’s face, distracted by her steely eyes and chiseled jawline. The air between them was electric as their eyes met. Fina’s breath quickened.
“Hmm.” Marta took hold of the clipboard and tossed it in the chair behind the desk. “That’s a tomorrow problem.” She pulled Fina in by the waist, electing a gasp from the brunette, and whispered into her ear, “I have more important things to do.” She pulled the younger woman’s lobe into her mouth, biting down, before beginning to unbutton the jacket of her uniform.
***She's an exemplary employee but poor Claudia was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Pelayo turned a shade of red — indignant: “Of course I have!” He adjusted his lapels and cuffs.
“Ohh really…” Fina shook her head up and down in mock agreement. “When was the last time?” She studied his face closely.
Pelayo froze.
Fina, catching the change in demeanor added with emphasis: “On. The. Mouth.”***AKA Homosexuals being absolutely useless at pretending to be straight.
*Please read the tags.* This, and I cannot stress this enough, is supposed to be funny. This work diverges from the normal timeline by assuming Fina is still all in and on board with the fake marriage and Pelayo hasn't been a self serving d*ck and really is their BFF. Based in part on a personal experience.

“Fina,” Marta began, turning to face her fully. She took Fina’s hand in hers, intertwining their fingers. “I hear you. And I promise you, I won’t let this consume me. I won’t let it take me away from you. You always come first. Always.”
Fina’s lips curved into a small, almost teasing smile. “You promise?”
“I do,” Marta said, and in that moment, she believed it with her whole heart.
Fina leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to Marta’s forehead. They settled back into the couch, their hands still entwined, and for the rest of the night, everything felt perfect.But as Marta replayed that promise in her mind later, she felt a faint unease take root in her chest.
Because promises were only as strong as the choices behind them. And in hindsight, Marta would come to realize that this was the moment her first cracks began to show—the moment she unknowingly set herself on a path that would lead to breaking the heart of the woman she loved most.
