And now he’s laid out at the base of a massive tree, with a big lump of muscles and fur bracketing him and whispering in his head.
None of the stories mention this part: the deep voice of the werewolf inside his skull, commanding Buck out of clothes and onto the forest floor. He’d opened himself on his own fingers and with his own spit at the behest of a voice in his head, the wolf promising a bite.

Summary
Buck licks his lips. The towel pools at his feet, and he steps over it, closer. Eddie keeps his tail from wagging in satisfaction at drawing him in.
“Oh, I can stand behind everything I’ve said,” Buck says. His shoulder flexes, and Eddie knows he’s touching himself. Fluffing his cock up, probably squeezing the base, trying to show off his knot. It takes a lot for Eddie not to scoff. “You wanna see?”
Close. The spray of the shower is hitting Buck. They’re chest to chest again. Eddie’s tail thrashes savagely in delight.
Eddie moves fast. One hand on the back of Buck’s neck—wolf weakness, press hard enough and they go limp—and the other on his chest, shoving him up against the wall. A startled growl buzzes against his palm; it’s as intimidating as a kitten’s hiss.
“I told you earlier,” Eddie says, lips brushing Buck’s. “That you’d learn your place.” Buck opens his mouth to speak, and Eddie squeezes the back of his neck until his eyes go hazy. “Thought you’d be smart enough to figure it out on your own. But you're not a very clever puppy, huh? Gotta show you instead.”

Summary
Buck and Eddie kiss for the first time in the middle of a park in El Paso, in the heights of beautiful, Texas spring. They do it surrounded by flowers, a warm breeze, and a million unspoken words.
Fifteen minutes after they kiss, after Eddie's legs go shaky with anxiety enough that Buck lowers them both to the ground, staining their pants green and blue with the grass and flowers, Eddie starts speaking.
“I picked a bluebonnet once, when I was a kid.”

Going to therapy alone. Going to the doctors to get scanned for blood clots, somehow horrifyingly, again alone. Refusing Eddie, Chim, Hen, Maddie— Even Chris from being by his side. He’s responded only at minimum to texts, ignored calls, and even the few times Eddie tried bringing Chris by his house, hopeful he could use his son to secure that bridge as it’s worked before refused to open the door.But Buck is alone.

"I'm gonna die," says Buck flatly.
"Jesus Christ."
"I'm gonna die and you don't even care."
Eddie groans loudly and dramatically. "If you're that worried about it, just book a mammogram."
"Uh, no way." Buck shakes her head definitively. "Have you seen those machines? I can't squish these!" She gestures loosely towards her chest. "They're precious cargo, my money makers!"
Buck goes quiet for a moment, before her eyes light up how they do when she has a stupid ass idea. "You can check for me!"
Eddie shakes her head. No, not a chance. Not a chance in hell is that happening.
Buck is worried about a lump in her boob, and Eddie—the great friend she is—gives her a highly professional, medically necessary breast exam, against her better judgement.
