But Ava’s still paying rent at the Americana, still stops in and checks her mail and even picks up a cupcake to go now and then. She’s just not sleeping there is all. Or going there most days. Or eating her meals there. But if HR asks, she is absolutely still a resident of the Americana.
Because here’s the thing: Stacey would definitely misconstrue what it means that Ava is now crashing at Deborah’s house again. Not living there! Crashing. It’s a huge difference. Vital, really. For Ava’s sanity if nothing else."

Ava expects that question. And she has thought about it for what feels like a lifetime. She's listened to every fucking therapy podcast, read every self-help book (ok fine, half-listened to the audiobooks), tried desperately to wrap herself around her own mind to answer this question, among many.
Deb & Ava meet after months apart and Ava reflects on what it means to move on (or not).

Truth be told, she's not even sure how Ava had convinced her to spend the back half of her award winning night in some vaguely 50’s themed diner (the most promising looking out of several odd places open at 2am in LA). It was probably a combination of the buzzing high of finally being recognized by her peers, the sound of applause echoing off the high ceilings, or it could've been the several drinks she had been offered at the after party they had attended, or maybe Ava’s killer puppy dog eyes.
