Hell, you would probably expect it to be agreeing to work with Cerberus. You wouldn't expect it to be a split-second decision made in the heat of battle, a choice that would leave a good friend dead and another wondering why they were alive.
If you ask Ashley Williams what the dumbest decision Shepard ever made was, she would tell you it was letting her back on board the Normandy.
This fic is pure self-indulgence. I published it a long time ago on ffnet and have been obsessed with the idea of it for a long time now. This is a rewrite and a reimagining of my own work. It's an AU where not only does Cerberus bring back Commander Shepard, but they bring back the unfortunate yahoo she left on Virmire too.
