Summary
After accidentally using Merzost, Alina and Aleksander find themselves waking up in each other’s bodies. Reluctantly, they discover that the only way to swap back involves merging their energy in delightfully depraved ways.
“And how do you propose we swap back?” Alina reaches out to prod a finger against his chest, shadows creeping towards them in her irritation. “This is your fault.”
“Alina,” he begins, reaching up to stop the incessant jabbing, unthinkingly brushing away the darkness with a flicker of light. “I hardly think I’m the sole—”
The Darkling cuts off at the sudden, jarring, change in perspective. No longer is he staring up into his own face but staring down at Alina’s instead. It lasts a moment before he’s thrown back into Alina’s body.
