Summary
Saparata didn't necessarily have a plan when he reached out to Yggdrasil for safe haven after his world turned upside down. He had even less of a plan when Turntapp of the Covenant had accepted. Adjusting to his new world would not be easy, but what other choice did he have?
He knew he would in the end, though. So long as unforeseen mental and emotional hurdles didn't appear out of nowhere, Saps couldn't imagine this as an experience he couldn't handle.

“Turntapp, please, listen to me, stay with me, please…” His words were a jumbled mess. He was blubbering like a baby, but he didn’t care. Turntapp’s dark eyes were fixed on the ceiling above him, the subtle rise and fall of his chest the only proof that he was alive.
Saparata cried until he couldn’t anymore. His grief was spent, leaving him with something else, something foreign to him. Rage.

Gruff, no-nonsense, it’s like he’s giving the results of the deliberation of the high council of the Covenant, and not at all like he’s giving his own highly-regarded opinion on some lowly prisoner.
Turntapps keeps Saps in the covenant, Saps learns what he means to Turntapps, and someone from the other island isn't so happy about it.
