This was written as a script for an overly ambitious attempt at fulfilling nartes's prompt as reward for getting a winning ticket in Leo's Surprise Birthday Party (2023 event). It's short snippets of convos that were meant to be timed over songs as an animated playlist video. -

This is inspired by Nock_and_Bolt's fic Amidst The Ashes of Our Dreams, in which Markus is pretty much the only character to survive to the end after being kicked out of Jericho, and Connor's failure to find Jericho leading to his decommission (go read that fic honestly, it's a great one!)
This present fic starts as Markus, having no one else to turn to, heads to meet his maker. And because I'm a sucker for music, yes, I didn't miss the chance to throw a dang Eurovision song in the middle of this goddamn tragedy. HERE YOU HAVE IT~ and here's a neat piano cover (you'll have to do the mash-up in your head to add the cello because I couldn't find a cello+piano cover)
unnecessary notes: I am amused that this melody bears some common point with Nine Inch Nails' 'Right Where It Belongs v2' which makes it extra awesome if you ask me.
