“Hello.” Rudo greets a bit awkwardly, leaning over the box. He can feel the gloves analyzing him with its anima as it seems to wake up from a deep slumber. It notices his scarred hands, then searches the room.
[Speak, gloves. He can hear us.] Regto’s book says tersely.
Rudo’s never heard it sound so annoyed before.
The gloves turn their attention back to Rudo. [Do not wear me.]
Something unheard is now being listened to. Rudo isn't entirely alone since he has his gloves, and they are determined to protect him even as his world gets shattered.
Or: Rudo can hear jinkis, and at ten years old he is dropped into the pit.

Summary
The knife dug deeper into Fu's throat and he watched as more trails of red made their way onto his hoodie. He briefly thought how the cleaners would react if they knew he ruined the clothes they had so graciously given him, but he banished that thought as quickly as it came. It wouldn’t be his issue to worry about how they’d react.
A scream of his name filled his skull. The sheer amount of concern in the voice was almost enough for him to regret yanking the knife across his throat but he couldn’t even feel that regret before his vision went black.
The last thing he remembers feeling was the happiness that followed him figuring out what he was supposed to do.
.....
“Fu…” Hii groaned while dragging bloodied claws across their face. “What the fuck did you do?”
