Summary
AU: The Emperor had told his younger brother, the Moon Prince (who spends his days in the rear palace as its manager, posing as a eunuch by the name of “Jinshi”) that he had the freedom to choose any of the low-ranking consorts, or any others that were of lower rank.
He’s not interested. He only wishes that the Emperor would produce another heir to replace him.
But, when he crosses paths with high-ranking consort, the La Clan Princess, Lady Maomao, his heart begins to beat with life and his carefully crafted mask slips.
And she, raised by her controlling, power hungry mother and blinded by love father, is sent into a tailspin.
Duty and desire collide, and a forbidden love is born as the world falls into chaos and rebellion around them.
