Ilya had asked to be examined, too, of course. He had done so multiple times in his life, always feared that his father’s shadow would taint his own future. He’d checked for years, waiting for the curse to come find him.
But it led to nothing. Ilya is healthy, the sky is blue, and Shane fucking Hollander is the one losing himself.
It’s a cruel joke of the fates, Ilya thinks. But he’ll love Shane through anything.
