The strings holding Taunie up snap, and she collapses against Paxton’s chest with a gasping cry. He fumbles as he catches her, swearing under his breath as panic shoots through him.
“Shit— okay, I’m here, I’m here, I’ve got you,” Paxton whispers it like a mantra as he gets his arms around Taunie, as tight as he possibly can without hurting her.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t— I didn’t think it would h-hit me that hard,” Taunie sobs, muffled against his clothes.
“It’s okay,” Paxton whispers. “Just let it all out, Taun.”
___________Paxton and Taunie comfort each other in the aftermath of Darkrai.

Summary
The whole time Team MZ was in operation, they saw reaching Rank A and stopping Ange as the ultimate goal, the end. None of them had ever thought about what came after. None of them had ever considered there'd be more to do when it was over, and with AZ gone, there is so much left to do.
Taunie tells herself she's fine. She's done this before, she can do it again. She can go through the motions, grin and bear it until it's over. But she's not alone this time, and that just might make it harder.
__Or, Team MZ rebuild Lumiose, and themselves, in the aftermath of Ange. Recovery's a long road, but they'll get through it together. PaxTau centric, but found family all the same.

Taunie looked up at Paxton. His eyes were blown wide, his expression unreadable.
“What—” he started, but Taunie cut him off.
“Please…” she breathed, “please, let me do this.”

A rewrite of the Ange Floette sequence at the end of Legends Z-A from Taunie's point of view in the Tower, because this game really tried to convince us she was just chilling in there.
