“Why,” Gihun said, voice trembling with the effort to hold it all in. “Why did you let me live?”
Inho blinked. His smile faltered, replaced by confusion, “What are you talking about?”
“I said,” Gihun was on his feet before he even realized it, the chair screeching across the floor as he lunged across the table. “Why did you let me live?!”
Seong Gihun is in a weird place. He finds out that everyone is alive and never experienced the Games. He assumes this is the afterlife and realizes perhaps he can finally heal.
Then he meets Hwang Inho.

In an attempt to salvage the coffee shop he, Jung-bae and Sang-woo opened two years ago, Gi-hun gets a loan from somewhere he knows he shouldn’t.
He’ll pay it off, anyways. He just doesn’t understand why the feared gang leader—The Frontman—has a soft spot for him. Gi-hun cares little for what’s under his hard mask and cold exterior. His eyes are on In-ho, his good friends older brother, even if Jun-ho tells him to forget about it.

“Something on your mind?” In-ho’s voice was low, his tone casual but with a hint of amusement.
Gi-hun glanced up then, and sure enough, there was a knowing glint in In-ho’s eyes. He wasn’t mocking him, but he was definitely aware of the effect he was having.
“I was just… thinking,” Gi-hun muttered, unable to meet In-ho’s gaze.
“Hmm.” In-ho didn’t press on, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly, as he found the whole situation mildly entertaining.
