The Jin disciples scrambled around their fallen brother while Nie Huaisang took up position in front of Meng Yao.
“What the hell is going on here?” he demanded, with a steel to his voice that Wei Wuxian had never heard before.

Wei Wuxian and Nie Huaisang run into Meng Yao being accosted by the Jin disciples at Cloud Recesses and immediately take him under their wing. This sets into motion a chain of events no one could have predicted, least of all Meng Yao.
