Look, Avery isn’t stupid. Minecraft is a video game, and he knows video games. And the cardinal rule of gaming? Set your save, especially when in a scary eldritch prison you may or may not have broken into.
It’s simple reflex that has Avery clicking one of the many white beds in the crimson village. Then, it’s desperation that has him waking in that bed, again and again. And many, many, more times after that.
It doesn’t matter how many tries it takes—how many times he has to see Derek merge with the King, how often Avery has to take the fall. He’s going to find a way to get the both of them out of this, one way or another.
Or: Avery tries to outsmart a God and the world’s smartest protagonist, and has a bad time.

But, despite all of his willingness to die, he felt lightheaded in the best way possible when his thoughts drifted back to his dear Avery. *He wasn't sure why he kept referring to Avery as that.* He felt that stupid fluttery feeling in his chest and abdomen, a similar yet more enjoyable feeling to guilt. In the few moments he had time to rest throughout everything that was happening, that feeing came back, and he would let it consume him for just a while.

Derek knew about Avery the moment his mind was blasted with infinite knowledge. Now, he has to deal with (AKA: ignore) his feelings for Avery so that he can keep his dearest safe.

A swap AU for SFAWTDE where Avery gets infinite knowledge instead of D3rLord3. Problems ensue.

D3rLord3 is forced to take Avery to Carcosa where he tries his best to commit to two goals: (1) keep Avery's blindfold on, or make sure he doesn't see anything; and (2) get Avery to safety.
He succeeds on one of these things.
