Summary
In his distraction his foot skids on a patch of too-slippery rock; one hand tightens on his handhold while the other, on instinct, swiftly clasps across his passenger’s back to secure him. The pulse in Margit’s ear gives a jump, accompanied by an oddly squeaky sound from the man himself.
“…It is fine,” he says, low enough to be almost more rumble than noise. He gets no reply, and in lieu of knowing how to comfort, gives the Tarnished a further pat on the back and adds in well-meaning tease, “Thou wert willing to drop off the waterfall in a stone box, but climbing down afears thee?”
“Fear, yep.” Tarnished’s voice is more muffled than usual; it takes him a moment to realise he’s hiding his face in the large mantle of Margit’s cloak. Must be to avoid looking at the drop. “Fear is the issue, sure is.”
Margit helps Tarnished traverse a waterfall. But during respite from the chill dark, things get a little... out of hand.

Summary
He finally addresses the rest of the court. “This sham of a symposium is over. When this court next convenes I expect it to conduct itself with some actual decorum. Thou art dismissed.”
Haydn expects that he will also be ordered to scurry away with the rest of the courtiers, but there are still fingers pinching the back of his neck. Once the room is cleared he wriggles free like an eel, sour in countenance at his argument being interrupted. “It wasn’t petty drama, I’ll have you know.”
“If thou’rt to cause me a diplomatic incident,” the monarch hisses back, “the least thou could do is speak to me with proper respect.”
“Your majesty,” Haydn returns acidly with a shallow bow, and turns to leave. He yelps as he’s summarily seized about the back of the neck again, “Stop manhandling me!”
“Would that thou were not in need of handling, little man,” is the growled reply.
The Tarnished who would be Elden Lord faces his most annoying enemy yet: Leyndell's court of nobles. The last thing he needs is to develop a covert admiration for the enigmatic (and scornful) King Morgott - but events at the Serpent-Sunder festival will change everything.

Summary
Haydn gestures fruitlessly, any eloquence escaping him. “This used to be… easy. And now it’s not easy. I can’t think what I’ve done or said to warrant this cold shoulder I’m getting, so if you could just tell me instead of making me guess, I’d really appreciate it.”
The directness seems to put the Omen on the spot. “That – it is – there is no upset.”
He heaves a sigh, “Come on, don’t do this to me. I’d apologise if I knew what I was apologising for. Just tell me.”
Margit looks at him.
“Thou art too attached,” he says at last.
Tarnished wants to be closer to Margit the Fell, while Margit wants to keep the faith-shaking distraction at arm's length. But a botched attempt to infiltrate Volcano Manor will throw both their plans into disarray.
