Summary
Half the world has marks on their backs and their colors ranged from light to dark, depending on skin color. The bigger marks represented a love interest, while the smaller marks represented those of close platonic relationships that one would later develop.
The few that had no marks on their bodies were free to choose whoever they wanted to be with, while the latter were basically stuck with their already-chosen partners.
As much as they tried to be with other people, the connection was never there and if their partners were dead or not existing in this world yet, the mark would be scarred over it so one was not able to recall what it looked like.
Until their partners were alive in the same world, the scar would slowly fade, and one would be able to see its shape again.Soulmates were forever and many believed that only those with one would be reincarnated again and again until the end of time.
