Summary
It wasn’t the first time Esports-People had gone out to a bar together. In fact, it had become something of a tradition at this point. They’d finish a tournament, Ash and Alex would go out to celebrate at the closest bar, Ryland would be dragged along, Sam would tag along for the drinks, Kamal would tag along to be a rebel, and Lorenzo wouldn’t drink but he’d come too out of some misguided sense of team bonding. So yeah, it wasn’t their first time at a bar together.
However, it was the first time they’d seen Alex get piss-drunk.

“Yeah.” The lone man of the group shoots him a small, yet strangely blinding smile. “We’re all single parents here.”
“Oh.” Jisung, it seems, has completely fumbled his vocabulary.
“Come sit with us,” the group’s leader gestures to him. “You can share our lamentations. We all help each other out here.”
in which: Jisung’s life had been stuck in place for a while—same routines, same days, nothing really changing. Then he befriends a sharp-tongued teenager, somehow ends up in a single parents’ support group pretending to be his dad, and, for the first time in a long time, things start to move again.

Genuinely SUCH a good fic. The characters are SO human, and flawed, and .ost importantly they dont just sweep the hurt away with "I love you". They genuinely work things out, and prove to each other that they both choose each other. The author has a way of showcasing the POV character's thoughts through the way the experience the world that just makes the whole thing so immersive. Seriously, it's so good and deserves to be read 10,000 times. I could write an essay about it.
Also, Funzone sounds like this place I went to as a kid, but I have no idea what it was called. I remeber a puzzle logo, bowling, Lazer tag, a jungle gym, and a dedicated party room but suddenly im wondering if it was a fever dream. This will bother me forever, thanks.
