Izuku’s hands were shaking by the time the false bravado of the news anchor fell silent with the quiet, static-laced hum of the television going dead. He choked, jolting upright as green eyes stretched wide.
“I dunno why you bother listening to that crap.”
Kacchan sat upright in his hospital bed, IV drip still hooked up and thick, blonde spikes in disarray. His jaw was set in a harsh scowl and red eyes were narrowed into cold, ruby chips as he shot Izuku a pointed glare.
OR: A post-canon fix-it where Izuku grapples with all of the feelings he pushed under the surface when Kacchan lands in the hospital in the line of duty--featuring awkward firsts, hero duos, threats to kick each other's asses, and critiquing kiss techniques. Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
It is an impulse, an unconscious thought, an urge driven by his newfound pride as a cook - as a chef. He's tabbing out of the group chat and he's going straight to the call button, pressing keys he's memorized after years of team ups. As he hears the tinny ringing in his ear, he realizes he's not doing this with regards to the other person. Rather, it's more of a selfish itch.
But Katsuki thinks, with a petulant scoff, that it's his turn to be selfish.
"Hello, Bakugou?"
"You're back now, yeah? Come over and bring your gaudy little cutlery with you."
"...Gaudy? I made them according to instructions. Sero even said they look like a pro’s," Katsuki can almost see the light teasing pout on his colleague's face. Fucking annoying ass.
"Whatever, just be here in 30 minutes or I'll add shichimi to your soba dipping sauce," he hisses into the receiver. Todoroki laughs, bright and full, none of that repressed huffs of breaths he used to do back at school.
"I'll be there."
OR: Katsuki tries to rediscover himself after that fateful goodbye.
