Summary
Byleth has experienced much in her lifetime. Much more than any normal human would experience in their lifetime. But Byleth was no ordinary human. As the vessel of the Goddess, she has been forced to experience the war many times over. She's become sick of seeing death and destruction, wishing to end the cycle of pain by preventing the war altogether, no matter what the cost. Even if it meant getting close to the monster who would start the war herself.
NG+ fic, in which Byleth has experienced the Blue Lions and Golden Deer routes, acting as a way to look into Byleth as a character and her relationship with Edelgard. Also, please dear lord read the tags. There will be spoilers, blood, death, and more as time goes on. It's M for a reason.

"Professor?” Edelgard is flushed as you pull away, nearly as red as her armor that lies discarded on the floor, and her eyes gaze up at you, heavy-lidded and hazy. “Are you all right?”
“I don’t think so,” you reply, calmly. “I think I might be having a heart attack.”
In the flurry of panic that follows for the next several minutes, you learn three things: 1. Small as she is, Edelgard is apparently strong enough to throw you over her shoulder and sprint to the medical wing within seconds, 2. Having Physic cast on you when you’re not actually dying makes you feel very queasy, and 3. You weren't having a heart attack, you were just stupidly in love.

Byleth isn’t used to having a heartbeat. Especially one that behaves so erratically whenever Edelgard is nearby.
