It's been some time already and he finally figured out that with the hero's Strength and obsessive tendencies the best warfare against him should be psychological.
So he started thinking.
"Hawks, flirt with your fans one more time and I'm going to start ignoring you."

Hawks is very bad at interacting with people after being kept isolated for so long. He can play the role with others, sure, but when there's no camera on him he just goes blank and tired.
Dabi is warm. Dabi doesn't care how Hawks acts, Dabi never did. Also he's shiny. He's colourful and quiet and safe and so so warm.
Dabi knows he can't fight Hawks so he never tries. Hawks likes that. No one has to get hurt.
But Dabi is mean. He gets so so mean sometimes.

Dabi was prepared for a lot of things, stealing, arson and killing, even her own death. Anything to accomplish her end goal, becoming a parent was not something she was prepared for, but she couldn’t turn back now, this was her son and she’ll burn anyone that tries to hurt him, even if he looks like the one man she hated the most, even if he had the same flames that still burn in her nightmares.
Hawks didn’t know what happened to Dabi, he thought he was finally getting her to open up to him, but then she was gone and the league only told him that she quite, Hawks could- wouldn’t believe it, Dabi wouldn’t just stop, as much as he wished she would, he never stopped looking for her, even as the final nail hit the coffin with the league, even through watching the world recover, he had a feeling the damage could have been worse, most of the league where captured with Toga being captured several months later. He knew Dabi was still out there and he would find her.
Daisuke just wants to keep his mum safe, wants to stop her own flame from taking her from him, so he'll get stronger, strong enough to protect all his loved ones, even from the scary man with red hair like his and flames just as bright.
