Summary
Sometimes Ghost wished he had lost Johnny in the battlefield, not in the sense he wanted Soap dead, but in the sense he wanted himself to be dead, and his own death would also be losing Johnny in a way. Maybe if there was blood and violence, rain and mud, adrenaline and danger, it would've been easier.
But he lost Johnny peacefully, their things turned into His and Johnny's things, and then the house was half empty, and they parted with simple words. He lost everything in his life while holding to it with claws and teeth, and the very thing he ever let go of was both something he came to realize it was never his, and the one to torment him.
So while trying not to blow his own brains out with the heartbreak, he writes. Who would guess, Simon Riley writing for someone? -
