Claire had thought that her experience in Raccoon City had been traumatising, but after saving Leon from the Tyrant, she realises that nothing in Raccoon could compare to what she had saved her friend from. She's sure that her trauma of witnessing it could never compare to Leon's suffering, and sometimes, she isn't sure if she asked for her brother's help for herself, or for Leon.
Chris, haunted by his own experience in the Arklay Mountains, isn't so sure of Claire's request. And Leon...
Leon doesn't even remember how to function outside of the trauma and the influence of the T-Virus.

Leon had already decided a long time ago that he didn't want to die, he just didn't care if he did. He didn't plan far ahead, just tried to get through the moment until he could crawl back to his apartment, or some seedy bar and drink himself into oblivion. At this point, he didn't even care to keep it a secret anymore, Chris and Rebecca had already seen him like this, drunk, depressed and one more bad night away from shoving his gun into his own mouth. And they decided to take the moral high ground and drag him back into hell with them, so what if everyone knew he was a moody piece of shit? He was still an excellent agent and as long as he finished his missions no one would bat an eye to the mess he made of himself.
