EXCERPT:
“What do you say? Fake boyfriends?”
Sam should probably say no. But Bucky was giving him these puppy dog eyes. This pleading to help Sam out. And Sam found himself reaching out for Bucky’s face – and squishing it too.
“What the hell? Why not?” said Sam, the both of them beaming, “Fake boyfriend.”
“Fake boyfriend,” grinned Bucky, all smiles and dopey.

But Sam is looking at him with lidded eyes and a soft little smile on his lips. It feels private. Like a smile that’s been saved just for him, out of all the people in the world Sam could smile at like that. Feels like that moment in the bar when their eyes met and it was just the two of them, like the rest of the world fell away and Sam was the only thing that mattered. And it’s – Bucky should be terrified. Probably is terrified, if he stops and thinks about it. But it’s just Sam. Just the person Bucky cares about most in the world.
Sam’s gaze flickers down. It takes Bucky a second to realize – oh, he’s staring at my lips – and then a dizzying rush of heat floods through him. Makes him feel alive in a way he hasn’t felt in so long. Makes him want to lean in, to see what Sam tastes like, how soft his lips are. Wants to see what noise he’d make if Bucky just - just surprised him and leaned forward and –
He’s leaning forward. Closing the distance between them. So slowly, achingly slowly, but it’s –
He can’t. He just –
Can’t.
(Not yet, at least. Not until he works up the courage. But he tells himself that for now it's enough, just being next to him, just being his friend.)

Summary
Sam lights the candle on the cupcake and smiles, sticking it out to Bucky. ''Go ahead, old man. Make a wish.'' He snorts softly but takes the cupcakes nevertheless, blinking at the little flame dancing for a moment.
His heart warms from the gesture. Sam knows it is his birthday, everybody does, but Bucky didn't expect him to come here and wake him up with a cupcake. It's something simple but it makes his heart swell.
He isn't used to this. Being treated like a person. HYDRA didn't exactly treat him like someone with feelings and emotions, let alone they celebrated his birthday. It's his first birthday here, at home, with people he holds dear.
It's a lot.
Or, Bucky is healing and Sam loves him through it.

Sam's phone rings right in the middle of him riding Bucky's dick. He's about to climb off when Bucky grabs his hips to hold him in place.
"Answer it," He says.
"Yeah, I was gonna," Sam moves again, pointing to the phone.
Bucky's eyes glint with something terrible, and he keeps Sam pinned on his dick, fingers, both metal and flesh, digging into Sam's skin. "Yeah. I know. Get it like this."
