I read this one a while ago and forgot to rec. So much of this story still sticks with me, though! It's really, really tough to read at times, but I loved the bleakness. Beautifully written – spare, and atmospheric, and lonely. (CW for some mentions of animal death that were really hard for me to push through).

Excellently read podfic of a work that sadly seems to have disappeared from the internet. What if Dean woke up in What is and What Should Never Be with Sam as his boyfriend instead of his brother? Beautiful and haunting.

Summary

Oh, man. What a ride. I loved this story so much. High school AU about kids learning who they are and how they fit together. Reminds me A LOT of my experiences in hs. CW for homophobia and some obnoxious language on the parts of even the main cast, who are all either gay or allies. I didn't love the epilogues, but the rest of the story is so strong that it doesn't matter. Read beautifully, as always, by Juice, who has quickly become my favorite podfic reader.
