Summary
Reah must wed the leader of the Nordr Union according to the treaty that will save her once proud Luran empire from the northern tribes' wrath. When she arrives in the north, however, she is met not by their leader, but his sister, who gives Reah some bad news. The man she was meant to marry has died. Regardless, the treaty must be honored, and she will stop at nothing to ensure a peaceful resolution to the war. That might be difficult, since the new Nordric leader... is a woman.
Istrid has far too much to worry about without having to cater to an arrogant Lurian princess. She has a funeral to plan, for one, and the burden of leadership she was never suited for. She's a warrior, not a diplomat! Yet there she was, face to face with the admittedly gorgeous little royal from the south, who she's now expected to marry. Istrid doesn't mind marrying a woman — she even prefers it — but a Lurian? That's a problem.
A treaty is the only thing bringing them together. Racial hatred, political tensions, and a recent war make it hard to find common ground. Is the relationship doomed alongside any chance at long-lasting peace?
