Summary
There were things that didn't make sense to Jamie, after. Things like a ring on a chain around his neck, a kind of metal he had never seen before. Things like his uniform being completely free of the dirt he could have sworn it was covered in before. Things like old aches resolved and new ones replacing them, scars from injuries he had no memory of getting.
(After Jamie gets his memories back some things change, and some things stay the same)

"Come on."
Jamie looked back to see the Doctor's expression turning into surprise, then confusion, with a tinge of something too subtle for Jamie to fully place in his tired haze. He could tell it wasn't bad, but that was it.
"Come where?" The Doctor asks.
Jamie stops in his tracks. He was going to take the Doctor to his room, but he suddenly realizes he has no idea where that is.
Jamie and the Doctor begin to realize just how much they already mean to each other.

Summary
The Doctor knew that Jamie was getting older and he was reliably informed that he looked his age. It showed on his face, people said, but the Doctor didn’t see it. He’d never been any good at judging human ages. To his eyes Jamie looked just the same as he always had. It was easy to pretend.

Summary
In the absence of speech, the moribund planet’s blustering winds seemed to roar louder than before, echoing the leonine screeches of its former inhabitants. The salmon-hued sky seemed to darken, matching the vivid colour seeping from the Doctor’s wounds.
The Doctor swallowed. “I’m...” he got out, expending almost all of his strength to stop the disease taking control.
“You’re what?” his combatant pressed on, not even a hint of humanity in his tone — or whatever the Gallifreyan equivalent of humanity was.
