Boya tells himself that they are hardly shirking their duty. The most important aspect of their work – the offering of help, the rooting out of evil – they continue to pursue with a vengeance. But there are no politics. No paperwork. No stultifying routines. Just himself and his companion, wending their way from one village to another, as though they were a pair of wandering cultivators. It’s decadence. It’s bliss.
The members of Boya's temple are celibate. Qingming is not. It becomes necessary to discuss the matter.
