Summary
Once, Poseidon had a son named Perseus. God of Loyalty, Honourable Duels, Underhanded Tactics and Riptides. As the myth goes, the god was once hesitant to fight for no reason. He would frown, ask what the point was.
It was the god of war that broke that streak, insulting Loyalty. Perseus warned him, but agreed to a duel. Ares, so much more experienced than the godling, lost.
They challenged and fought each other over and over again.
This next part depends on what version you’re reading and who’s telling it, but if some myths are believed, the two were lovers.

Born a hero in Ancient Greece, Perseus ascended. A mirror of his sister Rhode, he is married off to Apollo, the sun god. Thought not a protested marriage, he gains a centuries oath of Fidelity from him. A century they spend, happy.
Until even that ended, and his husband strayed so very often.
Trapped within a now one-sided marriage, his Father's protection no longer shelter him from the mocking laughs and cruel looks from the rest of Olympus. Slowly, illness sets in, divinity fading with time as his name is slowly erased from memory.
Then a quest of Heroes stumble upon his cavern.
