Nancy shrugged, her mother’s hand falling of her shoulder, “its just.” She looks at her mom. “Havent you noticed the way mikes been acting lately?”
“Micheal? Why? Whats wrong?” Karen immediately asked, a bit confused but worried for her son nonetheless. Nancy looked at her mom and frustratingly sighed.
“I saw him sneaking out last week, and again last night.” She paused for a brief moment, gauging her mothers reaction, Shocked, maybe upset, but mostly worried. then continues.
“He’s always secretive and doesn’t talk to me. he doesn’t want to. He’s out of the house before i even know it.” Nancy wanted to continue but she stopped there for now, nancy wheeler always prided herself for being intelligent, a sort of investigator, detective if you will. she knew how to read people, but she couldn’t read her brother, mike. He was had that nervous smile on his face like he was afraid of getting caught.. but getting caught doing what? She wouldn’t judge, she never would. “We’re so late, if I get detention my mom’s gonna be so pissed!!!” Grayson ran to his bike panicked, in fear of the angry scolding he might get from his mother.
“C’mon, c’mon Gray, we can still make it!” Alex exclaimed, getting on her bike and pedalling faster than before.
“I’m right behind!” shouted Grayson, catching up to Alex’s speed and heading to the school.
The two sped off, but something lingered. A round, barred opening in the canal wall offered only darkness… until six eyes, soft and yellow, blinked to life.
“It chose… a human?” the unknown and strange creature said. his presence unknown to the human world, a creature who lurks in the dark..
